If you are looking for a unique wedding venue, Trinity College Dublin with its historic buildings and atmospheric squares might be your ideal location. Choose between the iconic Public Theatre completed in 1786 or the prestigious Regent House with stunning views of College Green and Front Square.

Both venues are located just inside Trinity’s front gate entrance on College Green, in the heart of Dublin city centre.

While the Public Theatre is available to Trinity students, staff and alumni Regent House can be booked by any member of the public. For additional questions please refer to the FAQ’s below.

Chapel Weddings

Trinity alumni, staff and students can apply to host their wedding ceremony at the College Chapel, which sits in the heart of the historic front square off College Green.

With a stunning view of the university landscape from its steps, tiered seating, stained glass windows, and spectacular acoustics, it will take your breath away as you celebrate such an important event in your life.

Application to marry in the Trinity College Chapel is considered when at least one partner is a graduate who received a degree from Trinity College.

Civil Ceremony FAQs

While we do not offer wedding planning services, the Trinity Event team will act as point of contact every step of the way, ensuring you have everything you need to secure your Trinity wedding venue.

We currently have license for civil ceremonies to take place in the Public Theatre (Exam Hall) and Regent House. Both venues can only be booked outside of teaching term times in the summer months (mid- June to mid-August). Please note: the Public Theatre is only available to students, alumni and staff members.

There will be Chapel attendants / Security on hand to prevent tourists from entering the wedding venue.

The building attendant will be the TCD point of contact on the day. The roster is not available in advance, but we would let you know close to the event date. Please note you are hiring the venue only, we do not provide an event management service, however we are happy to work with an external event organiser at your request.

There are two slots available. 12pm – 2pm or 2.30pm – 5pm.

There are chairs in situ, 1 Lectern, 2 free-standing microphones and audio will be set up. Please note that a carpet down the centre aisle is not permitted or any other decorations allowed except for flowers and LED candles. Confetti or dried flowers are not permitted.

The Public Theatre comes with a 400-chair set-up. Regent House comes with 140 chair set-up, evenly split, with both sides facing towards the front. You can decide the number of rows.

You would need to leave the venue after the ceremony in the same state that you found it in. Any additional decorations must be removed promptly.

All furniture on stage area in the Public Theatre must remain however configuration can change as per requests subject to approval.

If our resident Organ Scholar Blaithin Cotter (cotterbl@tcd.ie) is unavailable, only then can an external organist be hired. This service is only available in the Public Theatre on request.

Yes, however you would need to request prior permission from the College, via the Enquiries Office.

Yes, however, we would need to book a set-up and take-down day on either side of your event date. An Additional fee may apply (50% of agreed venue hire per day for set up and take down date) This may limit the date availability. Once the event is over, the venue must be left in the same state and set up as you found it. If you want to use your own furniture, you will be given the option to either have chairs stacked at the back of the room at no additional cost, or to have the available chairs removed at an estimated cost which will be confirmed upon enquiry.

Yes, small decorations can be places on the aisle chairs and then removed.

This is currently not a service that is available.

There is a maximum of 4 parking permits for Regent House and Public Theatre ceremonies. You will need to complete a parking permit for each car to be allowed to park on campus. These permit forms are available on request from Enquires. Parking is allowed on Front Square during the ceremony or for drop-off only, exact location to be advised by Security.

A 50% deposit is due at the time of booking to confirm the date and the balance is due within 4 weeks after the ceremony.
