‘Every great man nowadays has his disciples, and it is always Judas who writes the biography.

Oscar Unwritten is a play that explores Wilde’s life through Robbie Ross’s impossible question: should Oscar’s full story ever be told? As Ross wrestles with the decision he faced in reality, memory and imagination begin to blur, and the past comes vividly to life around him.

Figures from Wilde’s world — Bosie, Constance, and Carson — appear alongside the characters that made him famous. Together they portray the triumph, scandal, brilliance and tragedy of Wilde’s life, tracing his journey from dazzling celebrity to devastating downfall.

Through this shifting world of memory, art and accusation, Oscar Unwritten pieces together a portrait of one of the nineteenth century’s most brilliant and contradictory literary figures.
