Half-day itinerary

Visit the Book of Kells and Old Library
Then download our audio guide, and immerse yourself in one of Ireland’s most important treasures, The Book of Kells. Take your time to listen and discover the layers of history and stories in its illuminated pages.
Emerge into the awe inspiring Long Room, where you will witness the Old Library Redevelopment Project in motion, which is a once in a lifetime historic event.
The library’s precious collections have been in our care for over 400 years, and work has begun to protect them, and this important building for the future. Watch as our team work to carefully remove the books from the shelves and listen to the audio guide as Head Librarian, Helen Shenton, explains all of the work that is involved.

Eat on campus
Complete your visit by a truly authentic experience of joining our students and academic staff in the magnificent Dining Hall for lunch (Monday to Friday, term time only), by enjoying a coffee and scone in Perch Café, or by booking a 2 or 3 course lunch in our restaurant ‘The 1592’ where both the Trinity community and visitors can savour the best in Irish food.

Leave with a gift or memento
Don’t forget, before you leave us, take the opportunity to browse the range of gifts and beautiful Irish crafts we have in our gift shop and pick up a memento of your visit.
